Research shows that women who lack access to a supportive network during this time are more likely to suffer from higher stress levels, encounter complications during labour and delivery, and experience mental health problems including postpartum depression. On the other hand, providing continuous care drastically improves outcomes for both mother and baby. Quite simply, the benefits of having support during pregnancy, labour, birth and into motherhood cannot be understated. Our volunteer birth partners have supported 68 women from the refugee and asylum-seeking community in Cardiff since the start of the project. With your help, we can increase our impact and continue to provide life-changing support to even more women.
